THE COMMISSIONERS OF NORTHERN LIGHTHOUSES

Currently have a vacancy for a

MASTER MARINER

For service onboard our Aids to Navigation Tenders on a fixed manning rota – 28 days duty followed by 28 days leave.

The Northern Lighthouse Board – www.nlb.org.uk is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible in law for the provision and control of a network of marine aids to navigation – lighthouses, buoys, beacons and a precision satellite-based navigation service.

As Master you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel under your command. You will have first class Seamanship, Ship-handling and Navigation Skills, Knowledge of statute and regulations, demonstrable leadership qualities along with well-developed people management and interpersonal skills

You must hold a Master II/2 Unlimited Certificate of Competency, a valid unrestricted MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1) and all applicable STCW certificates. You will be a serving Master or be able to demonstrate past relevant experience.

The current pay band for a Master is £55,730 per year rising to £64,157 per year depending on skills and experience.  Benefits package includes occupational sick pay scheme and career average occupational pension scheme.
