Do you have experience in a managerial technical role on board ship or in a managerial technical capacity of responsibility within the maritime industry?

Can you provide expert policy support on marine survey, Port State Control and ISM-ISO procedures?

We are looking for a dedicated Maritime Safety & Security Management Policy Lead to assist in the development, promotion, implementation and monitoring of a consistent policy for survey operations, inspection operations and maritime security & safety management operations.

You will play a pivotal part in ensuring we meet our obligations in UK and international waters with oversight of consistent policies for ISM-ISO and Maritime Labour operations.

About the role

Your duties will include:

  • acting as lead for the development and maintenance of relevant MCA Instructions to Surveyors
  • providing technical support to the daily running of operational branches, giving advice on operational policy to marine surveyors, industry, public, classification societies and other flag and port state administrations
  • representing the MCA and/or UK by providing technical support at internal and external meetings associated with areas of responsibility, including drafting and presentation of substantive papers
  • maintaining a working knowledge of practical survey and inspection policies, procedures and techniques 

About you

You are a qualified Marine Surveyor who will bring previous knowledge and marine industry experience to support the work undertaken and have a good knowledge of Survey/Port State Control/ISM/ISPS/MLC/ISO procedures.

Your knowledge and experience will enable you to provide expert guidance and robust recommendations to colleagues and internal stakeholders and effectively communicate and influence at all levels.
