Head of Learning and Organisational Development

£62,607 – £73,020 (dependent on experience)

Permanent, full-time

RNLI Support Centre, Poole, Dorset

Job Ref: 10305

This is a pivotal time for learning at the RNLI. We are updating our operational competency framework, reviewing our approach to training and also looking to understand how we can build the capabilities we need to deliver our 5-year plan. As part of our People Department, this role provides potential candidates with a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to saving lives at sea.

As an inspirational leader, you will be able to use your skills to motivate a large team of highly qualified learning professionals and build the connections needed across the organisation to deliver a truly collaborative and inclusive approach. You will need to be able to deal well with complexity as there is no average day in this role. You will be supporting your team in the delivery of a wide range of learning interventions, from innovative leadership development, through to world class operational training.

The successful candidate will also be required to support the team through the completion of some existing, large scale projects, while also looking to the future and ensuring new long-term plans are put in place that ensure learning, training and organisation development approaches are developed that will help the organisation to achieve its ambitious future goals.

You will be responsible for the design, delivery, evaluation and accreditation of all aspects of learning, development and training required to sustain and grow the capability and reputation of our organisation through our people.

You will have experience in planning and the delivery of an innovative L&D strategy. You must be able to demonstrate significant experience leading a large team to deliver specialist maritime, operational and technical training alongside core staff interventions across a diverse business. You will also have outstanding leadership qualities and proven success at a senior level, along with a passion for developing people to maximise their performance and contribution to the organisation.
