For service onboard their Aids to Navigation Tenders on a fixed manning rota – 28 days duty followed by 28 days leave.
The Northern Lighthouse Board – www.nlb.org.uk is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible in law for the provision and control of a network of marine aids to navigation – lighthouses, buoys, beacons and a precision satellite-based navigation service.
As Chief Officer you will report to the Master for the day to day operations of an NLB Tender deputising for the Master in their absence. It is essential that you hold a Master II/2 unlimited Certificate of Competency. You will have first class ship handling, seamanship and navigation skills, together with a detailed working knowledge of statute and regulations. You will also be able to demonstrate well developed leadership, people management and interpersonal skills along with the ability to communicate at all levels. Experience of Crane Operations would be advantageous.
You will require a valid unrestricted MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1) and other relevant STCW certification.
The current pay band for a Chief Officer is £47,364 per year rising to £51,645 per year depending on skills and experience. Benefits package includes occupational sick pay scheme, a career average occupational pension scheme and excellent training and Development opportunities.
