Assistant Terminal Manager – Based Barrow-in-Furness – Permanent – Salary – £Negotiable – Pension Scheme / Support for Continuing Professional Development
Our Client specialises in delivering the most technically complex, politically charged and highly sensitive transport projects in the world – those involving nuclear materials.
They are looking for an Assistant Marine Terminal Manager who would be responsible for supporting the Terminal Manager with the management of Barrow Marine Terminal and for managing access to the site, site security, review and execution of terminal operations, managing contractors in the delivery of the above, and ensuring that the terminal is maintained in a good state of repair.
Key Accountabilities
Delivery responsibilities:
Delivery responsibilities in support to the Terminal Manager:
Managing the health and safety all staff, contractors and visitors to the site
Management of the Terminal Services Contract, and maximisation of the opportunities for sale of spare capacity
Security and control of access to BMT
Review and approval of planned operations on BMT
Control of all operations on BMT (lifting, rail and road) in accordance with agreed processes methods and instructions
Maintaining the fabric and condition of BMT in a good state of repair
Liaison with PNTL and Ship Manager regarding vessel operations/activities
Act as deputy to the Terminal Manager as required
Assisting with budget preparation and reviews
To support management and delivery of transport related activities, e.g. health physics, training, PNTL crew liaison
To support Ship management team in delivery of ship and physical protection management, as needed
To support management and delivery of projects, as needed
Essential Skills / Experience
The role requires someone with experience of managing a small site or similar.
Typical qualifications, experience and skills required are:
Good standard of education
Recognised professional engineering qualification, or equivalent
Membership of a relevant professional organisation
Good experience/knowledge/understanding of RAM transport operations/site management
Demonstrable ability to work across and build effective relationships with all areas of the company and with customers to enable successful delivery
Proven experience of the control of lifting operations, linked to a good knowledge of LOLER Regulations
Working knowledge of the application of HS&E, PUWER and ISPS requirements
