Marine Standards Officer

WRS Tech are working with a global tug and towage operator and require a Marine Standards Officer for their operations in the UK.

The company has a large amount of contracts around the UK and the wider world which make them a desirable and stable place to expand your career.

The Marine Standards Officer is responsible for the day to day implementation, co-ordination and maintenance of company safety, quality and environmental management and operations systems across the northern region of the UK. Other roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide advice on safety matters to both onshore and seagoing personnel
  • Perform the duties of the DPA and CSO
  • Maintain and update documentation
  • Internal training on quality and safety related issues
  • Accident investigation as required
  • Disseminate methods of best practice/improvement opportunities

The ideal candidate will have the below:

  • A seagoing background (Master preferred)
  • Knowledge of port operations
  • Experience working with ISM Code, Marpol, STCW 95, ISPS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and marine legislation
  • Lead auditor for quality and safety systems
  • NEBOSH or IOSSH qualification
