The services we are seeking to support with this job role include Navigational Risk Assessments, Vessel Traffic Analysis and Port Marine Safety Code compliance checks.

About the Role
We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Maritime Team This technical role requires an understanding of port, shipping and navigational risk management. Day to day tasks will involve the collation, analysis and interpretation of marine operational data, enabling the provision of sound scientific advice. You will work closely with other ABPmer teams as well as ABP Harbour Masters, Pilots and marine operational staff. We deliver projects throughout the UK and overseas, and some of our project work requires small boat survey work, site-visits and working away from the office for extended periods.

Essential skills

  • Educated to Bachelor degree or higher in a relevant discipline or equivalent deck officer training;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of port and/or ship operations;
  • Ability to interpret and present information; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience working in a port or shipping environment;
  • Understanding of risk management processes; and
  • Boat handling skills.
