Vessel Traffic Services Officer
As one of the UK’s largest trust ports Harwich Haven Authority is responsible for safety of navigation of all vessels using Haven Ports, which includes the largest container vessels currently in operation and in excess of 10,000 yachts that visit the area each year.
Harwich Haven is vital to the UK’s prosperity, and we’re its proud guardian. Our role is to protect, conserve and improve the Haven for the benefit of future generations.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vessel Traffic Services Officer within the VTS Operations Centre, which delivers a 365 days a year service. The team is responsible for safety of the port environment in accordance to the Port Marine Safety Code.
Managing Haven vessel traffic is a complex and demanding task, so you’ll need to be an excellent communicator, co-ordinator and be accustomed to working effectively under pressure.
Candidates should hold a current IALA V-103/1 Certificate and have demonstrable experience gained from within a port or shipping environment. However, full training will be provided for the right applicant.
In return, and recognising the value of the role, we are offering an excellent employment package, which includes a pension, private healthcare and ongoing training opportunities.
If you have the required skills, qualifications and are passionate about working with us we’d love to hear from you. Informal chats are welcome and our Deputy Harbour Master Kevin Beacon would be happy to speak with you and can be contacted on 01255 243030.
