The Northern Lighthouse Board – www.nlb.org.uk – is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, established by statute to provide, maintain and inspect marine aids to navigation throughout its waters.
This is a unique role ensuring that all marine activities and developments in Scottish waters are marked to a standard which ensures safety for mariners. Although primarily an office based role responding to marine licence applications and other inputs, the role also entails frequent inspection visits to harbours and fish farms, and occasional time at sea on NLB vessels.
Ideally suited to an applicant with a background in marine navigation and educated to HND level or higher, we will also consider candidates with other skills and a demonstrated interest in marine activities. A high standard of written and verbal communication is essential, as is a full driving licence.
Salary range is £33,738 to £37,116 per annum. Benefits package includes career average pension scheme; flexible working and generous annual & parental leave arrangements.
There is also the opportunity to add real value to a professional organisation dedicated to the safety of those at sea, and to the protection of our maritime environment.
