The Marine Operations Superintendent's role includes two main areas of responsibility:

1.Supporting the Fleet Director and operations team in all aspects of the vessel's daily operations
2.Being the focal point for any Marine/Safety related items

The role requires active engagement with customers as well as various personnel, ashore and afloat and industry bodies.

Major Responsibilities

*Treat health, safety and environment as top priority.
*Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team as required.
*Working closely with Vessel Managers, Voyage Managers and HSEQ, be the focal point in the fleet team for marine, navigation, cargo, operational, commercial and safety aspects.
*Support the vetting departments with any marine related findings and advising on responses. Provide back-up during vacation and travel.
*Attend key meetings and conferences, working closely with other company vetting and assurance managers to share best practices, initiatives and focus areas.
*Generate periodical reports to highlight key information such as planned inspections, trends etc. and undertake necessary analysis/ trending to proactively identify and communicate areas of risk/ leading indicators with Fleet Operations.
*Undertake relevant assurance related tasks within the team including support during TMSA, ISM internal/external audits.
*Participate in training and assessments including support for the training centre.
*Assist voyage managers with compatibility studies and if required complete same in periods of high workload.
*Monitor and analyze internal and external navigation audits, internal audits, etc. and develop plans/campaigns to address any areas of concern.
*Perform MTMSAs, terminal compatibility assessments, due diligence and safe port assessments.
*Undertake incident investigations as required and liaise with key stakeholders for follow up and close out of inspection reports in a timely manner.
*Visit vessels and provide guidance to ship's staff.
*Provide back-up to other marine operations superintendents and the fleet services group when required.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

*Sound knowledge and experience in the marine industry with extensive previous sea going experience on gas tankers, preferably in a senior rank.
*Ability to understand and extract relevant information from charter parties.
*Experience of OCIMF and other relevant industry software applications, web pages and screening questionnaires.
*Good knowledge in international maritime regulations and marine industry standards (ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, TMSA, OCIMF SIRE), as well as HSEQ practices.
*Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
*Demonstrates sound teamwork, strong interpersonal skills and confident and effective communications skills with the ability to respond positively to customers and external parties in an efficient and effective manner.
