The purpose of the role is to manage assigned vessels, providing high levels of operational performance as specified within the Fleet Team Operations Performance Contract, to ensure safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the vessels.

Key Accountability's :

Technical and HSSE: Manage and oversee all day to day technical activities directly related to the management and operation of assigned vessels, including fleet HSSE. This will include carrying out technical investigations, Project management, Procurement of Spares and Services.
Ensure all activities are compliant with, and supportive of, HSSE policies and improvement programmes. Manage current performance expectations with respect to world class safety performance.
Finance: Ensure costs are managed in accordance BPS financial governance requirements and support the procurement team in the identification of opportunities to simplify / improve/ reduce costs.
Operational: Ensure assigned vessels and are operated in accordance with all BP and Industry requirements. All change is formally managed under MoC, including asset modifications and re-assignment of line account abilities. Vessel specific technical, commercial and HSSE records are appropriately kept and incidents failures & deficiencies are correctly reported, investigated, recorded.and communicated
Commercial: Ensure vessels maintain optimal performance, minimal downtime and proactive use of any maintenance and inspection opportunities emerging from delays / waiting periods.
Understand the customer needs and deliver effective, compliant and robust solutions to operational challenges and problems.
Ensure that vessels are operating efficiently respect; plant operation and hull/propeller efficiency.
Assurance: Deliver marine operational assurance to the Group for assigned vessels consistent with shipping assurance commitments utilizing an approved HSEQA Management System.
People: Acting as coach and mentor to the Chief Engineers of company vessels. Get involved in selection of staff for promotion to senior engineering positions. Set clear guidelines and performance expectations for ships staff.

Essential Education :

Engineering Class 1 Motor/Steam or Combined Certificate of Competency or equivalent Degree and/or professional qualification

Essential experience and job requirements :

Sea going experience in the rank of Chief Engineer or Second Engineer Officer on board LNG/LPG vessels
Technical and operational management of LNG vessels
Experience in thermophysical properties of Nitrogen, Methane, Ethane, Propane and Butane
Experience in Operation and maintenance of gas fueled reciprocating engines
Knowledge of HC Gas Compression, Gas liquefaction and LNG regasification system.
Knowledge of Cryogenic systems and materials
