Our client is a leading provider of marine and engineering consultancy & surveying services to the offshore and shipping industries worldwide working for an established consultancy you will become a member of a team of highly experienced maritime professionals delivering high quality, technical investigation and surveying service to the marine insurance, shipowning and legal professions. This outstanding Marine Consultancy now requires a Chief Engineer to join their London based team.

The role…

-Undertake a wide range of surveys, investigations, audits and attendances as required, always in a professional manner, on ships, docks, fixed and floating objects both on or near -shore and offshore.
-Communicate findings both verbally and in the form of written reports and correspondence in a timely manner.
-Work together with clients such as P&I Clubs/Insurers, H&M Underwriters, Owners and Lawyers.
-The role requires working away from the office both within the UK and occasionally outside the UK, conducting the above scope of work.
-Where cases end up in court, provide written expert opinion and give verbal evidence in service to the court or tribunal as required within your areas of expertise.
-Attend meetings, court proceedings and conferences as necessary.
-Develop and maintain a network of clients and potential clients.
-Identify opportunities by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
-Locate or propose potential new business opportunities by contacting potential clients, Track the activities and accomplishments of relevant companies.
-Market the consultancy's capabilities within the marine market.
-Update knowledge and keep abreast of industry trends by participating in training, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional conferences.

The person…

-The successful candidates will have a Chief Engineers (Class 1) certificate of competency.
-Candidates must be able to display excellent problem solving skills (both practical and theoretical), the ability to effectively communicate technical issues to a non-scientific client base and be willing and available to travel worldwide at short notice.
-Preference will be given to candidates that have experience sailing on deep sea commercial vessels
-Candidates with experience sailing on the most modern DFDE or LNG fuelled engines would be at an advantage
-Candidates coming with Consultancy experience would be very attractive
