Role and Responsibilities

* Provide guidance to shore and sea staff on HSEQ related matters.

* Monitor and respond to communications received by the HSEQ team.

* Monitor our HSEQ performance, and report on this at Quarterly Management Review meetings.

* Ensure internal/external audits are carried out at the prescribed intervals and observations/non-conformities are properly closed out.

* Review safety returns, including accident and near-miss reports, and ensure all occurrences are dealt with in a timely manner.

* Investigate accidents, as directed by the HSEQ Manager.

* Carry out audits and safety inspections.

* Assist in the development and implementation of HSEQ initiatives.

* Maintain the Safety Management and Occurrence Management Systems.

* Ensure that ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISM accreditation is maintained.

* Act as Management Representative.

* Arrange random drug and alcohol tests and ensure that the Company's D+A Policy is adhered to.

* Maintain the Emergency Response Room facilities and ensure staff are familiar with all facilities. Plan and coordinate emergency response drills.

* Assist in the evaluation and upkeep of the Company's TMSA.



* Review and respond to ship safety committee minutes.

* Maintain oil spill response plans (SOPEP/SMPEP)

* To perform other duties as designated by the HSEQ Manager and/or the Senior Management
Team.

* Conduct interviews, briefings and training of Masters and Chief Engineers.

* Represent the HSEQ team at inter-departmental meetings.

* To represent the Company at seminars and forums.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Education Requirements

* Seagoing experience to Chief Officer or First Engineer level.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Team worker.
* Right to work in the UK.
