Make a difference in maritime safety…

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) aims to be the best maritime safety organisation in the world.  We need experienced and capable Surveyors to help us realise this vision – could it be you?

The role of a Marine Surveyor with the MCA is extremely varied and no two days are the same.  You will be required to survey, inspect and audit a variety of different vessels, large and small, international and domestic, to ensure UK and International Regulations are being met.

This isn’t a normal 9 to 5 job; You will work flexibly to deliver exceptional customer service alongside experienced colleagues.  Full training and support will be available to give you the breadth of experience needed to be an MCA Surveyor.

We want the best. And for the best Marine Surveyors we offer a competitive package – great career options, flexible working patterns, attractive remuneration and a Civil Service Pension Scheme.

Successful candidates will have sufficient experience within the maritime industry and will usually come from one of the following disciplines:

- Master Mariner

- Chief Engineer

- Naval Architect

Candidates without the above qualifications may also be considered if they can demonstrate an equivalent level of learning. Full details of the minimum qualifications required can be found on the link below.

There are no lengthy applications forms, just a CV and personal statement, so for more information and to apply please click 'Apply'

Whilst you complete your training, you will receive a starting salary of up to £54k, this equates to £42k basic and up to £12k of allowances (allowances are dependent on certain qualifying criteria).  Your basic will increase by an additional £2k after you successfully complete your first years training.
