The role…

*The Service Manager will be expected to lead and continually improve the Service and Support offered to ensure that the highest possible standard of delivery is given to the customer. The Service Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Service capability, this includes, but is not limited to maintaining an agreed level of profitability for Service and the delivery of labour contracts.
*Responsible for the Direction and leadership of the companies national Service capability. Expected to meet or exceed targets for engineer utilisation, first time fix rate and on time delivery across the service network
*Working with direct reports or through other managers, the Service Manager will have the authority to direct resources to ensure service delivery is done in the most effective and efficiency way possible.
*Management and direction of company service coordination to ensure the best use of company engineering resources to maximise the income achieved by service
*Control the training budget, to ensure the service engineering technical capability mix matches the requirements of the business. Working with Regional Managers, The Head of Engineering, and other company stakeholders, agree the training priorities of the business and deliver the training plan.
*Directly develop trusting relationships with Clients and suppliers. Provide service solutions to clients through their knowledge of the industry
*Provide reporting to service customers, including leading meetings and presenting any contractually agreed data.
*Provide written contributions for bids and tenders for service and project delivery.
*Regularly monitors and interprets short and long-term market changes and their possible impact on our service capability.

The person…

*A degree-level qualification in a technical subject is essential.
*Relevant and recent marine domain knowledge regarding the technology on board ships is essential. Preferably knowledge of ships electronics navigation systems.
*Technical knowledge and competency, able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the Regulations surrounding the Marine industry as well as a broad knowledge of electronics products.
*Proven track record in selling service capability to clients.
*Proven track record in managing a distributed workforce
*Proven successful experience in Leadership and driving a business forward - ideally, being able to demonstrate effective past-management of Maritime projects and the possession of keen skills in motivation, decision-making, and positively influencing others.
*Proven track record in customer service, sales or other applicable role in which customer contact was critical to success.
*Experience in a dynamic service industry combined with an in-depth knowledge of the wider Maritime community.
*Technical experience/knowledge which would allow an understanding of concepts in all areas of Marine electronics would be advantageous in the absence of high level relevant qualification.
*Competencies in planning and organising is essential, must be able to work with teams remotely.
*Excellent communicator, able to express ideas in both written and verbal form to a variety of audience's.
*Proven ability to think in an entrepreneurial way and to apply good commercial business sense whilst taking into consideration the implications of the larger industry.
*An excellent and up-to-date working knowledge of the UK and international maritime markets - including relevant clients and suppliers.
*A full UK Drivers licence is essential.
