The successful candidate will have experience / understanding of diesel electric propulsion and associated control systems. Further experience / knowledge of ABB Azipod propulsion and associated control systems would be an advantage, as training will be given in this area, to the successful candidate.

Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary: To provide specific electrical assistance and support, primarily to the Fleet
Teams and Project Manager, but also to the other departments as required.

Planning Responsibilities --- (Plan)

*Liaise with Vessel Managers in planning electrical work, to ensure it is completed on-time and to a high standard, by both on-board staff and external contractors. Provide specialist advice
during preparation of risk assessments.

*Provide assistance to Vessel Managers where required in arranging service engineers and purchasing spare parts for electrical equipment.
*Ensure that any planned expenditure as part of day to day duties is carried out in accordance with company policies.
*Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for new build and projects.

Operational Responsibilities

*Work together with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure on board electrical
equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.
*Liaise with internal and external customers with regards to new equipment being considered for the fleet. Provide expert advice on the suitability of such equipment for purpose.
*Undertake technical investigations of issues that develop within the fleet. Provide detailed analysis and reports to those concerned.
*International travel to vessels or other locations as required by the needs of the company.
*Assist Vessel Managers in preparing dry dock specifications and budgets. Attend docking / repair periods of company vessels in order to assist Vessel Managers in managing electrical maintenance, modifications and upgrades.
*A member of the emergency response team.

Performance monitoring responsibilities

*Review the performance of electrical staff within the fleet. Assist Personnel team in recruitment of new staff, and evaluation and promotion of existing electrical officers and automation engineers.
*Assist PMS Officer in reviewing the planned maintenance system, ensuring on board equipment, work procedures and inventories are up to date.
*Monitor SMS ensuring electrical procedures are safe and up to date. Implement updates in accordance with industry changes via company MOC system.
*Carry out ship visits as required for company audits, technical investigations and pre-docking thermographic surveys.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Education Requirements Right to live and work within the UK / Eu Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent in appropriate electrical/electronic subject.
Holds STCW certification for high voltage qualification, and preferably holds STCW electro-technical officer certificate of competence.
Holds a valid certificate for working with electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres. (COMPEX/ATEX).
Knowledge and experience of LNG operations desirable.

A desire to drive continuous improvement in maintenance and operational condition of existing companies and new vessels.
Able to deliver quality, economical and intuitive solutions.
Ability to respond positively to customers in an effective manner. Good time management.

Technical Competencies

Preferably 10+ years in the marine electrical industry.
Preferably has direct on-board experience with diesel electric propulsion systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Good analytical and problem solving skills for assisting with projects and electrical defects within the fleet.
Proficient with computer based planned maintenance and record keeping systems (AMOS, Shipnet).
