This influential international trade association representing offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies, is seeking someone to join the technical team as a Technical Adviser, supporting and implementing their wide-ranging work programme.

The role…

Provide subject matter expertise and technical support/guidance to the association's Membership on Marine, C&T and ROV systems.

-Attend and constructively participate in your assigned committees and workgroups, including preparing agendas and minutes, attending meetings and delivering action items.
-Prepare new technical guidance documents and Information Notes.
-Review and revise existing technical guidance documents.
-Consult and engage with third-party organisations (regulators, trade and technical associations. professional bodies, clients and others).
-Monitor regulatory and technical developments which may affect members, briefing and lobbying as appropriate.
-Prepare the technical programme for seminars and other events, including chairman and speaker liaison.
-Prepare technical presentations for regional meetings.
-Prepare technical briefings for the senior management.
-Consult and engage with other members of the secretariat.
-Provide technical advice and support to designated Management Committees, workgroups and the wider membership.
-Support the Associations work at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The person...

This is an exceptional opportunity to play a leading part in the formulation of technical guidance for the offshore energy sectors, with a particular focus on marine-related issues, ROVs and subsea operations, and competence and training. The role is ideally suited to an individual with a deep knowledge of and passion for the offshore industry, who has the enthusiasm and confidence to stimulate the association's membership engagement and participation.

The candidate should have an offshore or marine background, possessing good technical and operational knowledge of ROV systems and of the competence and training (C&T) required to support those systems.
The successful candidate will have worked offshore and have up to date knowledge of marine and offshore operations and of the technical aspects of ROV and AUV systems in commercial use today. Familiarity with the operational aspects of ROV and AUV systems will be a distinct advantage, as would experience in developing competence and training schemes and familiarity with Competence frameworks.

Required Skills…

-Technical knowledge of ROV and Marine electrical and control systems, as used on complex offshore vessels;
-Well-developed interpersonal skills; able to work with persons of differing expertise and seniority.
-Skilled in influencing and negotiating.
-Ability to deliver work that is technically correct, logical and well argued.
-Strong personal skills in representing and promoting the work of the association.
-Attention to detail.
-Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to command and develop technical discussion.
-Able to work well in a team environment.
