In addition, they have developed value added and innovative services addressed to all shipping sectors, including naval and merchant ships, passenger vessels, yachts, and the entire offshore sector.

The role…

You will contribute to bring the energy and momentum needed to grow, spring boarding off of the strong base and excellent track record of an already established company.

As Head of Marine you'll lead activities within the UK, Ireland and Iceland supporting the company's ambitious growth plans. Reporting into the Area Director, The Head of Marine will be involved in a range of challenging but exciting opportunities where your tasks will range from dealing with clients' technical and operational queries, to managing, developing and implementing relationships internally and externally to grow the business. Supporting the Area Director, you'll drive development across the Marine business unit, manage a team of colleagues and be the technical reference/support for local and future Clients. This opportunity offers UK and worldwide travel.

The Head of Marine will be focussed on contributing to managing all operations within Marine in line with the business unit strategy.
Whilst achieving the commercial, quality, technical and operative objectives, you'll guide the career development of your team, ensuring that people improve their competences, skills and motivation in line with the business needs.

As Head of Marine you'll be responsible for providing technical leadership of Marine Surveyors/Auditors, through the provision of training, supervision and witnessed inspections as well as:

*Ensuring full compliance of all activities with the actual regulatory framework to provide in service inspections to demonstrate compliance to Class Rules and Procedures and relevant statutory legislation
*Provide technical expertise within marine sector, ensuring that the company's technical philosophy and strategies are understood and adhered to throughout the business unit
*Act as reference point of for any technical issue outside the Surveyors' competence
*Develop and provide innovative solutions to in-service inspection processes
*Grow existing accounts and develop new sales for in-service inspections
*Provide quotations for new work and manage invoicing for work delivered
*Be the local technical reference contact for the UK administration and to ensure the compliance with local national legislation
*Coach and develop team members and field staff in technical issues, ensuring technical knowledge is maintained and developed
*Deliver services in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, procedures and working instruments
*Carry out local control, verifying the technical consistency of the documents and reports according to the procedures in forces
*Provide technical assistance to customers and local authorities ensuring the highest customer satisfaction

The person…

*Naval Architect degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by within the relevant field of marine engineering
*Experience working for a Classification Society including full qualification for surveys and ISM-ISPS-MLC audits would be preferable
*Experience working within a Classification Society, a shipping company or, shipyards or a manufacturer would be desirable.
*Extensive experience working within a senior role, management experience would be desired

As an experienced professional you will have meticulous planning skills and excellent organisational and time management skills able to prioritise and plan complex work in a rapidly changing environment.
