I am working with an international maritime client based in Southampton, who seek to expand their team of specialists within the Ballast Water Management Team. If you want to be at the centre of global expertise in your field, working with local and international teams to provide the highest standards of guidance to the wider maritime industry, then this is the role for you.

This is a highly specialised role, seeking someone who has experience in BWTS approvals or installations. Alternatively if you're experienced in other ship systems and operations and are keen to develop your knowledge in Ballast Water Management please get in touch.

You will:

*Perform assessments, undertake technical project management and provide specialist advice for service delivery on budget, on time and to contractual requirements.
*Review and approve test plans and witness the testing as applicable, coordinating relevant technical disciplines to complete the approval process
*Present appraisal conclusions with internal and external clients and suggest/influence alternative solutions where appropriate.
*Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
*Mentor and coach other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
*Support and participate in the development of future legislation - such as IMO and IACS - to enhance safety and environmental protection relating to BWM.
*Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems.
*Report all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and escalate any health and safety concerns

Essential qualifications:

*Minimum Bachelor's degree within a relevant field of Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Biology or similar. Alternatively a qualification as a certified ship's engineering officer with relevant sea-going experience.
*Experience in the approvals and/or installation of BWTS or experience of operating BWTS on board ships.
*Membership of any appropriate professional institutions
*Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.
*To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
*Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work.
*Experience in system engineering and/or environmental engineering (desirable)
*Knowledge on regulatory affairs/approval of BWTS such as IMO/USCG (desirable)
*Basic knowledge in Marine biology and Ecotoxicology relating to BWM (desirable)

This well-established and friendly team include internationally renowned technical experts in many engineering disciplines. Thriving on knowledge, they are committed to individual development and knowledge sharing, particularly in respect of new technologies. This represents a fantastic opportunity if you crave innovative thinking, and strive for excellence in your field. Please apply with your CV and I will call to discuss your suitability prior to application.
